"Peter Conductor" is inspired by the work of Peter Ompir, interpreting his whimsical colonial men and adding strokework around the piece, using colors inspired by him, and attempting his antiquing technique using acrylic paints. I named this one "Peter Conductor" because it is painted on a reproduction tin oil can and I feel he helps the trains keep running and well-oiled. If you're not familiar with him: Ompir began painting in the 1930s. He painted on household objects. His designs were colorful -- often pictures of fruit, trains, Colonial soldiers, roosters and other Pennsylvania German symbols. The painting took time. Each piece was painted with a base color, dried, sanded, painted again, then varnished. Peter adds a bit of color and whimsy to your decor! 6 1/2" to top, 9" with handle, 7" from handle to tip of spout.
