This design is painted on a sheet of decoupage paper adhered to a flat canvas, then matted and framed. Fruit cones were very popular in colonial times and this apple cone would have graced many a party table. Lemons, limes, oranges were all used, but I love the contrast of the red apples and greenery. The decorations we now associate with Williamsburg are Colonial Revival. Colonists would have eaten those fruits and nuts but, oh, what a joy to see those wreaths each time we visit in December! Paint the design as shown or use parts of it on any surface.
