Cardinalis Cardinalis

This is my interpretation of a painting done by Mark Catesby, an English naturalist of the 18th century. He studied flora and fauna in the New World. The Red Bird has always been one of my favorites. Washes of paint give the background an old, parchment-like look. Dry-brushing and floated color brings the design to life.
