This is my interpretation of candle sconces made in the New York Augustus Filley Tinshop, circa 1814-1870. Augustus was well-known in the community and was referred to as "The Father of Tin Peddlers" by Thomas G. Alvord in his "Reminiscences" in the area newspaper. Wall-hanging sconces, with the yellow strokes on the borders, were made in large numbers in this shop.
