This design is based on letters found on an alphabet print made by Carrington Bowles in 1782, also known as "the comical hotch potch". In the eighteenth century, toys were to be used to teach. Many times a print would be cut with scissors for the child to reassemble as a learning tool. Knowledge was something to be valued; only the wealthy could afford schools or tutors for their children. These caricatures on blocks add a touch of whimsy to your decor!
